She had never missed a cricket match if India were playing. She always visited this little restaurant that always streamed the matches live on the big TV and had the most amazing pizza. She was casually chatting away with the owner and enjoying Virat Kholi’s amazing batting skills when He noticed her. She was wearing a clearly worn out last season Indian jersey, skinny jeans and converse shoes. Every time, Virat hit a six or four, She would jump with joy. She was completely oblivious to his secret glances towards her. He wondered how to approach her, He had met girls who enjoyed sports, but her passion towards cricket was extraordinary. He realised that the match was over and She had noticed him gazing towards her. She gave the most beautiful smile and settled her bill and headed towards the door. He knew it was a now or never…

He had been waiting for this day ever since He picked up his first cricket bat as kid. He had finally got his break in international cricket. He had a few minutes before the match, and He knew She would be waiting by the phone. She had moved in next door when He was only seven years old. He had seen her in a baby blue shirt and pink jeans, and He fell in love instantly. He did not understand his feelings until He was 15 when He first hugged her after their 10 standard results where announced. By the time they were 18, their families understood that these two were soul mates. Over the years, they had their fights, but they always found their way back to each other. He dialled her number and waited as the phone rang. She picked up and said, “I thought you found some cute girl in the stands (while giggling). I know you’re tensed but remember win or lose, I will be waiting for you with my arms wide open”

She had seen him play all through school and today when He was opening the batting for India. But the change was that today She had the chance to watch him live in the stadium. She screamed with the crowd, She had scored the best seats in the house right by the boundary. He had just walked out on to the pitch. And as He hit his first six of the innings, She felt like it was all flashback. He was 15, when He had scored his first 100 in the final of the inter-school tournament. She sat in the stand and cheered him on. He had been told by his fellow mates that there was a girl who was there for every game, and also secretly saw him practice in the nets. He thought it was a myth or hoax, but He had noticed her in that game. He never took it forward, because He wanted to wait till He had made a name for himself before He would ask her out. She cheered on as He kept on storming the stands with fours and sixes. Finally as the innings ended, He glanced towards her from a distance and He knew it was time to make her his forever…
